Music!

sorry this page isnt quite done yet! This page is going to include a decent chunk of writing so please be patient!

Music is a very important part of my life, I'm almost always listening to music. I love a lot of genres of music, so I thought I would make a page showing some of my favorite albums across genres of music I enjoy.

Today's Song!

this does NOT get updated daily, but i try

Rock

I feel like starting off with Rock is best, its probably the most broad and basic genre of music. I especially like Progressive Rock and Punk Rock, although I enjoy a little bit of everything when it comes to rock.

Flying Teapot - Gong

Flying Teapot is without a doubt my favorite prog rock album. Its probably one of my favorite albums ever, I love the way Gong uses music to build this fictional planet of gong. Flying Teapot also has my favorite individual songs compared to the rest of the Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy, I really like all 3 albums and I would say Angels Egg might be the objectively better album but I will always prefer Flying Teapot, I can sing and tap my foot along to the whole album by heart. My two favorite tracks are Witches Song / I Am Your Pussy and Pothead Pixies. I love Pothead pixies for its catchy instrumentals and simple brain infecting lyrics. I also love Witches Song for its unique sound and mix of the instruments in the song, I also enjoy the slow buildup of the song leading up to the HEAVENLY PART!! All in all I LOVE GONG, they are without a doubt one of my favorite bands of all time and I reccomend listening to the Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy if you like prog rock or have the time to spare. (the trilogy includes the albums Flying Teapot, Angels Egg, and You)

It's Always Something... - THICK

This 4 track EP is one of my favorite examples of Punk in music. This EP has such a stellar selection of tracks, although its only 4 I would argue they are some of the band's best work. I know it is a bit boring to choose the most streamed release as my favorite by them, but I think it is their most popular for a reason! The first track 'Anymore' is such a good opener, I love the way it quickly builds up this punchy punk rock theme that stays throughout the whole album, although the lyrics of the song are rather simple and repetetive they work perfectly as an introduction to the EP. The second track 'Puke's Diner' is probably my favorite track of the EP, I love the simple lyrics that really build this connection and story described in the song. The lyrics are immediately catchy in this song and I am all for it! The third track 'Wasting My Time' is great aswell. The lyrics are definitely simple albeit a little repetetive (common theme I know) but I love the way the song sounds, the mix of the lead guitar paired with the vocals layering to make such an interesting and gripping noise I can't stop playing. The fourth track 'Are You With Me?' is another great track. Yet again I love the way the lead guitar and vocals layer with another. I think the fourth track might not be quite as immediately interesting as the others it still keeps up the momentum of the EP that I love. Overall I am a big fan of THICK and 'It's Always Something...' they never fail to make an interesting sound I always want to hear.

No Taste - Bad Waitress

Bad Waitress has been a much more recent pick for me, I fell in love with the band after hearing their most popular song That Sedative. No Taste is their only full album as of writing this. This album is great and shows everything I love about the band, it's loud and immediately catchy. Some standout tracks for me are Strawberry Milkshake, Manners and Live In Reverse. Manners likely being my favorite track. I love the way Bad Waitress sound, I love the loud lead guitar paired with the violent and emotional lyrics cutting through the rest of the band. They immediately leave an impression and I have yet to hear anything by the band that I have not absolutely loved!

Metal

Im also a huge metalhead, I started off listening to more industrial bands like Jesus Loves Junkies who were my first metal band I really liked. Ever since I started listening to metal I got more and more into the harder stuff, I enjoy alot of black and death metal (not dsbm it just isnt for me) I love the way metal builds this creepy and loud atmosphere, and Im always impressed by the musicians skills with their instruments!

Hip-Hop

For a long time I hated Hip-Hop and Rap. I thought it was boring and lame, but one day I started listening to MF DOOM and I thought "wow maybe hiphop is kinda rad actually" and since then I've been a pretty big fan of alot of artists, mainly the artists with more interesting instrumental parts rather then the fastest rappers.

Electronic

Electronic is a weird genre for me, I used to only listen to videogame soundtracks and anime openings because I was a huge nerd. I feel like that sort of listening pattern has kind of kept with the electronic I enjoy, I like alot of completely instrumental electronic. While I dont especially like or enjoy breakcore, I have been in love with maidcore recently. I love the way maidcore artists share emotion and mood through their songs, its simply amazing.
